L'océan
Biarritz
At a glance
L’Océan is a bar and restaurant on the Chambre d’Amour promenade in Anglet, positioned beside the beach with a warm, contemporary feel. The renovated interior combines modern details with a cosy atmosphere, while the south-facing main terrace provides an outdoor setting for meals, drinks and time by the coast.
A separate rooftop adds another way to enjoy the setting, with views across the ocean and towards the Biarritz lighthouse. It suits a relaxed lunch or dinner, as well as an aperitif at sunset, when the coastline and passing surfers become part of the scene. The rooftop has a more restricted animal policy than the main terrace, with dogs welcome outdoors at ground level but not upstairs.
The menu follows the seasons and places emphasis on fresh, house-prepared food. Regional Basque influences appear alongside fish cooked on the plancha, with seafood forming an important part of the offering. The restaurant’s signature seafood parrillada brings together the coastal character of the cuisine, while the wider menu includes choices intended to suit different members of a family or group.
Service covers lunch and dinner throughout the week, with a weekday lunchtime dish of the day and changing weekend suggestions linked to the catch and the season. In the afternoon, the restaurant also serves crêpes and waffles, including a house-made hot chocolate for a more casual break. Cocktails and sharing tapas make the terrace and rooftop suitable for drinks as well as full meals.
L’Océan works for couples, families and groups of friends looking for an informal coastal meal in a polished setting. The rooftop can also be arranged for private gatherings of up to 50 people, with menus or buffets discussed in advance. Reservations are handled by telephone, and the venue accepts bank cards, restaurant vouchers, holiday vouchers and cash.
